OSC/OSC-NZ has seventeen years of experience performing desk-based literature reviews for industry, and a substantial proportion of the company’s income is based on performing this service for these sectors, which include seismic, drilling, decommissioning, defence, dredging, windfarms, pipeline and cable laying, hydrographic, civil engineering, government, aquaculture, etc. Unlike any consultancy to our knowledge, if released from Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), we also publish in high-impact journals, and our staff have up to 70% protected research time.
Most literature reviews fall under NDA; however, the most recent publicly-available report was performed in collaboration with JASCO and Cawthron Institute to provide a detailed review of biology and ecology of Hector’s dolphins (Cephalorhynchus hectori) and Māui dolphins (Cephalorhynchus hectori maui) and potential impacts from offshore O&G and mining in New Zealand (Lucke et al., 2019). Little information is available for these species; therefore, OSC’s specific sections focussed on detailing responses of a similar proxy species, harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena), to various industrial sources of disturbance, mitigation options to reduce disturbance, and survey methodology. The full report is available here.
