Consenting

OSC-NZ has direct operational experience of consenting processes, gained through involvement in both the drafting and implementation of key marine legislation and regulations; notably the Exclusive Economic Zone (Environmental Effects) Act 2012, the Department of Conservation’s 2012/2013 Seismic Codes, and the Maritime Transport Act/Marine Protection Rules. OSC-NZ has worked across the full spectrum of marine management regimes, and has strong networks with stakeholders. We also have significant experience in the development and review of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA, alternatively referred to as Assessment of Environmental Effects/AEE). Therefore, we can offer the highest quality advice and support to anyone needing to participate in or understand the marine consenting process.

Areas of particular expertise in marine policy, regulation and consenting are:

  • Oil and gas (including spill contingency planning and discharge management);
  • Seabed minerals;
  • Marine dumping;
  • Decommissioning;
  • Shipping; and
  • Renewable Energy
